Associate Scientist
Summary:
US BIOLOGIC, a One Health company, develops oral vaccines and therapeutics, specifically aimed towards pandemic prevention. US Biologic has a wide and international network of academic and private institutions, and strives to bridge the gap between fundamental research and product development.
We are currently seeking an associate scientist to lead our human oral flu vaccine development program, a project collaborating with BARDA. A successful applicant will be expected to elucidate mechanisms of oral immunity in different animal species and collect data to lead to a successful IND application with the FDA.
The associate scientist will be responsible for project management, in vitro and in vivo work with technicians, and reporting. The associate scientist will work directly with the Chief Scientific Officer for study design, data analysis, reporting, and publication.

Description:
The associate scientist will be responsible for project management, in vitro laboratory work, management of technicians, maintenance of detailed records and laboratory notebooks, and in vivo study assistance. The associate scientist will work with the Chief Scientific Officer to create study designs, collect data with assistance from technicians, analyze and report data, write study reports, and prepare publications.
Ideal qualifications and skills:
- PhD in immunology, microbiology, or applicable life sciences with significant hands-on experience with in vitro work (e.g., flow cytometry, protein assays, and other immunology tools), as well as in vivo.
- 2+ years' work experience post-PhD completion.
- Extensive knowledge of immunology and vaccinology.
- Cloning experience.
- Demonstrated success in a focused, collaborative environment.
- Demonstrated success in communication and writing skills.
- Experience in working in a GLP environment is preferred.
- Vaccine or drug development experience is preferred.
- Experience with big data and data analytics (preferably in R) is preferred.

Laboratory Technician
Summary:
US BIOLOGIC, a One Health company, develops oral vaccines and therapeutics. We are currently seeking a team member to assist with testing of oral flu vaccine candidates for humans.
Title Position:
Laboratory technician (full time)
Description:
The laboratory technician will be responsible for in vitro laboratory work, maintenance of detailed records and laboratory notebooks, and in vivo study assistance.
Requirements and Skills:
- Master’s degree in life sciences with two years’ lab experience or an associate’s or bachelor’s degree in life sciences with five years’ lab experience.
- Demonstrated success in a focused, collaborative environment.
- Experience in immunology and / or vaccine research, with techniques such as Flow Cytometry, DNA / RNA / Protein isolation, qPCR, WB, ELISA, IHC, microscopy, plaque assays.
- Experience in working with laboratory animals, colony management, necropsy, organ harvest is preferred.
- Demonstrated success in communication and writing skills.
- Demonstrated experience in laboratory inventory management and maintenance of standard research records and notebooks.
- Experience in working in a GLP environment is preferred.
- Vaccine or drug development experience is preferred.

Animal Laboratory Technician
Summary:
US BIOLOGIC, a One Health company, develops oral vaccines and therapeutics. We are currently seeking a team member to assist with testing of oral flu vaccine candidates for humans.
Title Position:
Animal Laboratory Technician (full time)
Description:
The animal laboratory technician will be responsible for day-to-day care of laboratory animals under strict compliance and in a GLP environment, including maintaining records and reporting.
Requirements and Skills:
- Bachelor’s or Associates degree in Life Sciences, with 2+ years' experience.
- Experience in working with laboratory animals, including husbandry, colony management, daily observations, necropsy, injection techniques, oral gavage, blood draws, and organ harvest.
- Experience in IACUC protocol creation and maintenance of detailed records.
- Experience with or a desire to learn standard laboratory techniques.
- Demonstrated success in a focused, collaborative environment.
- Demonstrated success in communication skills.
- Experience in working in a GLP environment and/or FDA guidelines is preferred.
- Experience in working with ferrets is preferred.
- Vaccine or drug development experience is preferred.
- AALAC (or equivalent) certification is preferred.
